NAR Letter Providing Panelist Background Info for AQB for Required Fair Housing Training

On September 1 sent a letter to the Appraiser Qualifications Board regarding AQB Forum to Explore Education Requirements Related to Fair Housing and Valuation.

 

The letter expresses NAR's appreciation for the Appraiser Qualifications Board's efforts to support fair housing and to eliminate bias in valuations, and forthe opportunity to share our views on requiring fair housing training for real property appraisers. NAR believes regular fair housing training is essential for those involved in the business of real estate. To this end, NAR urges the Appraiser Qualifications Board of theAppraisal Foundation to revise the real property appraiser qualification criteria to require fair housing and valuation bias training for both qualifying and continuing education.
